The Institute of Electrical Engineering offers practice-focused, laboratory-supported teaching and research in the field of electrical engineering. Due to the broad training they receive in all major subjects of electrical engineering, graduates will have access to any electrical engineering position in industry, manufacturing or the public services both inside and outside Germany. For this purpose we offer a diploma course and a Master’s course with an international focus as alternatives.All courses start in the winter semester.Classes consist of lectures and exercises plus practical studies. Currently we have approx. 80 enrolled students under the experienced guidance of 8 professors and 3 research assistants. In the first study semesters they are taught fundamental skills in electrical engineering, mathematics and physics as a foundation for their remaining studies. A wide variety of elective subjects enables further specialisation according to personal interests. Students learn engineering skills while working in one of our 7 laboratories where they normally also prepare their diploma or master’s thesis. This is often integrated in a research project, partly in co-operation with attractive industrial partners from inside or outside Germany.
